Gaelic Games Return to San Francisco’s Treasure Island for an Action-Packed 2025 Season
San Francisco, CA – The San Francisco Gaelic Athletic Association (SFGAA) is gearing up for an exciting 2025 season, featuring fast-paced Gaelic football, hurling, and camogie matches on Treasure Island from April to early August.

Gaelic games have been played in San Francisco since the Gold Rush, introduced by Irish immigrants who brought their athletic traditions to Northern California. But despite their long history, these sports are unknown to many Bay Area sports fans.
Gaelic football, hurling, and camogie combine elements of soccer, rugby, and basketball on a pitch three times larger than an American football field. The speed and intensity of these games make them thrilling for both players and spectators.
“Gaelic games are more than just sports—they represent a vibrant culture and community,” said SFGAA Chairperson Seamus Collins. “Our clubs play at an incredibly high level, and we hope more people in the Bay Area will experience the excitement of these fast-paced games.”
Two Tournaments, One Goal: National Glory
The SFGAA season features two major tournaments:
The St. Patrick’s Cup kicks off on April 13th, with the finals set for June 8th.
The Championship Cup begins on April 22nd and culminates in the finals on August 3rd.
The winners of the Championship Cup advance to the USGAA Finals in Philadelphia from August 15–17, to compete for national titles. Last year, SFGAA clubs won eight national championships to cement San Francisco’s status as a powerhouse in Gaelic sports.
Key Matches and Season Highlights
The season promises a slate of exciting matchups that include:
